Want to check whether INPS has recorded your years of work? Open your estratto conto contributivo, or contribution record, and compare the entries with your employment history. If something differs, note the dates and scheme before reporting it.
This guide helps you read the record, prepare a clear request and choose between a contribution discrepancy report and RVPA for public-sector employment. If you need a certified record, use the ECOCERT or ECOMAR route.
The record is a starting point for checks. Ask INPS, a patronato assistance organisation or a qualified professional to assess pension eligibility, whether missing contributions can be recovered or the consequences of an omission.
Where to start
- Ordinary access
- SPID, CIE or CNS on the INPS portal
- Compare
- Periods, scheme, units, employer and notes
- Public-sector periods
- RVPA record correction request
- Certification
- ECOCERT; ECOMAR for seafarers
Section 1
How to view your INPS contribution record
Start with the public service page: it provides the access button and assistance channels.
Open the official service
Use the INPS link below and select Utilizza il servizio. Avoid starting from links in unsolicited messages.
Sign in with your identity
Use SPID, the electronic identity card (CIE) or the national services card (CNS). You should reach your personal contribution record.
Check every section
If you have changed employment type, review each scheme shown. Save or print the record using the available functions and note the date you viewed it.
| You need to | Route |
|---|---|
| View recorded periods | Consultazione dell'estratto conto contributivo |
| Report discrepancies in schemes covered by the ordinary service | INPS correction / segnalazione contributiva service |
| Correct Gestione Dipendenti Pubblici periods | RVPA, even if you now work privately |
| Request contribution certification | ECOCERT / ECOMAR service |
Cannot sign in? The service lists patronati and the Contact centre: 803 164 from an Italian landline, free, or 06 164 164 from a mobile. Official delegation is another option if you cannot use the services independently; do not share passwords or login codes.
Section 2
Reading periods, weeks, earnings and notes
Read an entry together with its units and scheme: a number on its own can mislead.
| Field | Practical check |
|---|---|
| Period and employer | Compare dates and employer or administration with your employment history. |
| Scheme and contribution type | Distinguish employment, self-employment, Gestione Separata and credited or recognised periods. |
| Units and purpose | Read days, weeks or months and the eligibility and calculation columns; public-sector entries may use years, months and days. |
| Earnings or income | Compare the social-security figure with relevant documents, rather than your net take-home pay. |
| Notes | Read each annotation and ask about any wording you cannot interpret. |
Section 3
Checklist for checking and reporting missing contributions
Gather what identifies the discrepancy, without preparing unnecessary attachments.
- The record you checked, consultation date and scheme concerned.
- Start and end dates of the period to investigate, and employer or administration name.
- Relevant contracts, employment or termination letters and payslips, where available.
- Certificazione Unica (CU) or earnings documents for the years concerned.
- Payment receipts or decisions recognising periods, where relevant to your scheme.
- For credited periods: benefit notifications and dates to compare.
- References and copies of any reports already submitted.
This is an editorial checklist, not a universal list of mandatory attachments. Follow the documents required by the procedure or office, and submit them only through official channels.
Section 4
Missing INPS contributions: requesting a correction
Describe a specific discrepancy and keep a record of the request you submit.
Identify the difference
Write down the missing period or incorrect field, including scheme and employer. First check that it does not appear in another section.
Open the reporting service
Use the official correction page and follow the route available for your scheme. For public-sector periods, use the RVPA section of this guide.
Prepare and submit the request
Enter the information and relevant documents required by the procedure. Reread dates and the problem description before submitting.
Keep the submission result
Save the copy and any available reference or receipt. Follow the status in the service; contact INPS quoting that request if you need clarification.
Practical Italian wording to adapt in the official channel: Β«Nel mio estratto della gestione [scheme] non risulta / risulta inesatto il periodo [fromβto] presso [employer]. Il dato da verificare Γ¨ [description]. Dispongo di [relevant documents]. Chiedo la verifica della posizione e l'eventuale rettifica.Β» This asks INPS to check the specified period or field and correct the record where appropriate.
Section 5
Public-sector employees: when to use RVPA
Richiesta di Variazione della Posizione Assicurativa concerns periods in the public-sector scheme.
Use RVPA to report gaps or inaccuracies in service, recognised periods or earnings in the public-sector scheme. This remains the relevant route even if you now work privately.
Check the record even when no notes appear. Annotations may need investigation; the public-sector service page refers to pensionable earnings after 31 December 1992.
Identify the public-sector period
Note the administration, dates and field to insert or correct, and compare the relevant service and earnings documents.
Submit RVPA
Follow the official service directly or with assistance. The INPS office assesses the request with input from the employer administration or body.
Check status and outcome
Review previously submitted requests. A pending request and an accepted correction are different outcomes: reread the record after the decision.
Section 6
NASpI credited contributions: what to check
Check the benefit period as well as the months you worked.
Contribuzione figurativa means contributions credited for certain protected periods. For monthly NASpI, INPS states that benefit periods are covered without a separate application for the credit.
If you cannot find a period, compare your benefit dates with the record and request a check specifying that period. Not every absence from work is covered in the same way.
Section 7
Worked abroad? Keep foreign contribution records too
A foreign period missing from the Italian view does not establish that it has been lost.
For EU countries, insurance periods can be considered together when checking pension eligibility; the individual institutions calculate their shares under the applicable rules. This does not turn every foreign period into an Italian contribution payment.
Prepare the countries, employment dates, insurance numbers and records from the foreign institution. Ask INPS or a patronato to assess the international position; the applicable rules must be checked for non-EU countries. An ordinary report about Italian contributions is not a universal solution.
Section 8
Ordinary record, ECOCERT and ECOMAR: the difference
Printing an ordinary contribution record does not make it a certificate.
Ordinary consultation lets you check recorded information. An estratto conto certificativo provides a detailed contribution position with legal value: INPS identifies it as an option for workers approaching retirement.
Use the ECOCERT / ECOMAR page to request it. The service also handles applications for other benefits: choose the certification request type rather than confusing it with a pension application. ECOMAR is for seafarers; ECOCERT for other workers.
If you are considering when to leave work, have eligibility and the pension start date checked. This guide and a simple sum of the entries do not certify a retirement date.
Section 9
Common problems and your next step
Take a specific question to the relevant office, with the references you have gathered.
| Problem | Check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot find a scheme | Review all sections and compare the employment type. | Ask INPS or a patronato which position to consult. |
| A recent period is missing | Check dates, scheme and documents without assuming the cause. | Ask whether the data has been received or needs a report; do not rely on an invented waiting period. |
| You cannot understand a note | Copy its wording and identify the entry concerned. | Ask what it means and whether a public-sector period needs RVPA. |
| Your request has no clear outcome | Find its reference, copy and available status. | Contact INPS or your patronato with those details and follow any requests for further information. |
The service pages refer to administrative processing terms and possible different rules. Do not read them as a promise that every entry will be corrected within 30 days; ask which term applies and how your request is progressing.
Section 10
Frequently asked questions about INPS records
Answers to questions that can change the route you need.
How do I check for missing periods in my INPS contribution record?
Open the official service, check every scheme shown and compare periods, employer, contribution units and notes with your documents. List the differences before requesting a correction.
Can I view my contribution record without SPID?
Ordinary access is also available through CIE or CNS. You can ask a patronato or the INPS Contact centre for help; if you cannot use the services independently, check the official digital identity delegation procedure.
Does a missing period prove that my employer did not pay?
A missing entry alone does not establish the cause. Check the scheme, dates and documents, then ask INPS or a patronato to investigate. Do not postpone an important check on the assumption that the record will fix itself.
How do I correct contributions from public-sector employment?
Use the official RVPA route for the Gestione Dipendenti Pubblici, even if you now work privately. INPS assesses the request with the relevant administration; you can check the status and outcome of requests already submitted.
Does NASpI appear in my contribution record?
Periods receiving NASpI are covered by credited contributions, without a separate application for the credit. Advance lump-sum NASpI does not provide these contributions: do not automatically apply the monthly-benefit rule to an advance payment.
Is printing my contribution record the same as obtaining ECOCERT?
No. Ordinary consultation lets you check your position; a certified record requires the dedicated service. ECOCERT is for other workers and ECOMAR for seafarers. A printout alone does not certify pension entitlement or a retirement date.

Official sources and guide limitations
Public service pages and relevant passages checked on 8 October 2026.
The source passages relevant to these checks were read. No personal records were accessed and no authenticated procedures were tested. This guide does not calculate pensions, limitation periods, recovery or individual eligibility; the checklist and sample request are practical editorial tools.
- INPS β View your contribution record (Italian)Italy: record contents, separate schemes, contribution units, notes and access channels. The distinction from a certified record was also read. No personal record was accessed. No universal update time or individual pension entitlement is established. Relevant passages checked on 2026-10-08.
- INPS β Report discrepancies and request corrections (Italian)Page updated on 14 April 2026: authentication, viewing the record and reporting periods needing credit or correction. The page does not document every field in the authenticated service. General processing terms are not a guarantee of correction within 30 days. Relevant passages checked on 2026-10-08.
- INPS β Public-sector contribution record (Italian)Public-sector periods, including for people now working privately; years, months and days, earnings after 31 December 1992, notes and informational value. It does not determine how individual periods or contribution increases count. Relevant passages checked on 2026-10-08.
- INPS β Request a public-sector record correction: RVPA (Italian)Service or earnings discrepancies, insertion/correction/deletion, assessment involving the employer administration and previously submitted requests. This route concerns the public-sector scheme. Submission does not mean automatic acceptance; the authenticated procedure was not tested. Relevant passages checked on 2026-10-08.
- INPS β Request ECOCERT or ECOMAR (Italian)Certification and benefits service: selection of the request type; ECOMAR for seafarers and ECOCERT for other workers. The guide does not complete a pension application or confirm individual eligibility or certification times. Relevant passages checked on 2026-10-08.
- INPS β Login credentials and digital identity delegation (Italian)Ordinary access through SPID, CIE or CNS, and delegation for people unable to use the services independently. This is not a complete guide to delegation, legal representation or special access conditions from abroad. Relevant passages checked on 2026-10-08.
- INPS β NASpI and credited contributions (Italian)The credited-contributions section was read: covered benefit periods, credit without a separate application and the exclusion for advance lump-sum NASpI. NASpI amounts, duration or eligibility are not recalculated. Other credited periods have their own rules. Relevant passages checked on 2026-10-08.
- Your Europe β Pensions after working in several EU countries (Italian)The passages on combining periods for eligibility and calculating individual EU countries' pension shares were read. This is not an INPS correction procedure. It does not determine agreements with non-EU countries or an individual's pension position. Relevant passages checked on 2026-10-08.
